Job summary

Open Cosmos is seeking a Software Engineer for our Space Data division to design, implement, validate, and maintain satellite flight software. You will work on Linux/RTOS based systems, contribute to CI/CD, and collaborate with Systems, Electronics and Mission Operations to ensure robust, traceable software for space missions.

You should be proficient in Rust or have strong C/C++ skills, with a passion for reliable, high-performance code.

Qualifications

• Strong programming capability in Rust, or solid understanding in C or C++ with motivation to transition to Rust in production.
• Proficiency in Linux development environments, with scripting and command-line tooling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to support reliable software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, validating, and maintaining satellite flight software
• Supporting ground tools, ensuring robust, traceable software for space missions
• Developing features for Linux and RTOS-based systems per requirements
• Participating in code reviews, testing campaigns, and CI/CD processes
• Maintaining configuration control, documentation, and traceability throughout development
• Collaborating with Systems, Electronics, and Mission Operations teams
• Contributing to post-launch operations and integration activities
• Driving continuous improvement in architecture, design, and processes
