Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the HV Electrical Engineering group in the UK.

Based in Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham or Epsom, you will guide a high-performing team across FEED and detailed design for electricity transmission substations, while maintaining strong client relationships and delivering projects to the highest standards. Qualifications

• Experience in managing technical teams.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
• Proven experience in primary plant design of substations in UK or internationally.
• Experience in preparing bids and cost estimates for FEED and detailed design work.
• Good knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE).
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
• Capable of working under tight deadlines while managing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Line management of engineers and mentoring for performance development.
• Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for transmission substations.
• Oversee delivery of FEED, detailed design, and bid submissions to high standards.
• Provide expert review of HV plant layouts, earthing, interlocking, busbar calculations, and HV equipment specs.
• Manage interfaces with back-office engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Act as tender manager for HV plant packages and ensure compliant submissions.
• Chair design and hazard review meetings; attend site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
• Maintain and grow client relationships and contribute to business development.
