Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead a high-performing HV Electrical Engineering team across UK projects. You will drive FEED and detailed design for substations, ensuring technical integrity and client compliance, while coordinating with stakeholders and suppliers.

You will manage design reviews, bid submissions, and risk controls, with frequent client engagement, travel to sites, and leadership of engineers in a dynamic, hybrid office environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing technical teams and line management of engineers.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for HV electrical substations.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with client specifications.
• Oversee FEED, detailed design, and bid submissions to high standards.
• Review HV plant layouts, earthing design, interlocking schemes, busbar calculations, and specs.
• Coordinate with back-office engineers, subcontractors and suppliers for delivery.
• Act as tender manager for HV plant packages and review offers.
• Chair design and hazard review meetings and participate in site visits (FAT/SAT).
• Support client relationships and contribute to business development.
