Job summary

Vinterior is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day finance function in a small, remote team. You will report to the Founder & CEO and oversee month-end, cash management and internal controls while guiding budgets and profitability discussions.

You will manage payroll, VAT and statutory reporting, improve finance processes and systems (Xero included), and partner with product, engineering and operations on commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or substantial equivalent experience
• Own month-end accounts, reconciliations, cash forecasting and budgeting
• Experience in a small business where responsibilities are broad and improvements are welcome
• Able to investigate discrepancies, establish what needs to happen and follow through
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to explain numbers to non-finance colleagues
• Clear communication with colleagues outside finance and collaboration across teams
• Capability to develop a colleague, delegate effectively and manage external accounting relationships
• Comfortable with accounting systems, spreadsheets and financial modelling
• Able to work independently in a remote team while staying connected and organised

Responsibilities

• Own financial control and reporting. Deliver month-end accounts, reconciliations and clear reporting for leadership and Board.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting and rolling financial outlook; explain variances and flag risks with Recommendations.
• Oversee payroll, VAT, statutory accounts and related compliance.
• Improve processes and systems; manage Xero and payment-provider reporting; explore automation to reduce manual work.
• Support product, engineering and other teams on financial impact of decisions and projects.
• Develop and coach the Finance Manager; manage external accounting relationships and specialist support.
