Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is recruiting an Development Underwriter for the Commercial Lines sector, home-based in Scotland. You’ll quote and underwrite new business, manage broker relationships, and work within delegated authority to deliver fast, accurate service.

You’ll collaborate with Business Development Managers and colleagues to meet SLAs, maintain high standards of customer care, and contribute to continuous process improvements while adhering to TCF and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ underwriting experience in commercial insurance (property/casualty).
• Cert CII or working towards ACII.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business quotations across commercial products per appetite and SLAs.
• Support brokers with queries and maintain professional communications.
• Develop and manage broker relationships with Business Development Managers.
• Operate within delegated authority and escalate when needed.
• Identify process improvements aligned with business goals.
• Ensure compliance with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF).
