Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is recruiting a Development Underwriter – P&C for the Belfast area with a home-based working pattern. You will own a key broker panel, make underwriting decisions and partner with brokers to deliver excellent service in the Northern Ireland market.

With 3+ years in commercial underwriting, you will review SME/mid-market accounts, stay abreast of market trends and regulations, and collaborate across teams to resolve queries while developing broker relationships.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ commercial underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of underwriting operations.
• Analytical and decisive decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building ability.
• Able to work independently in a home-based environment.
• Progress toward CII preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills and proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Identify and underwrite new commercial risks — property & liability.
• Review and analyse renewals and endorsements.
• Manage workflow and ensure timely processing.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve queries.
• Maintain and develop strong broker relationships, including visits when required.
• Stay up to date with regulations and underwriting standards.
• Support wider business initiatives and projects.
