Job summary

Brook Street Social Care in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Registered Manager to lead a residential home for children. You will ensure high standards of care, collaborate with health, education, and therapy teams, and oversee safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and staff development.

The role requires an NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, proven leadership experience, and Ofsted registration (or eligibility).

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Proven experience leading and developing teams within a residential childcare setting.
• Strong organisational, IT, and time management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and external professionals.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and undertake sleep-in duties when required.
• Existing Ofsted registration as a Registered Manager (or eligibility to achieve this).

• Ensure all aspects of care meet the highest standards, with effective implementation of each child's individual Placement Plan.
• Work collaboratively with health, education, and therapeutic professionals to support children's development and wellbeing.
• Maintain full compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted SCCIF, ensuring the home operates to the highest regulatory and professional standards.
• Inspire, support, and develop your team through regular supervision, training, and performance management.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, including safeguarding, health & safety, and accurate record-keeping.
• Promote a positive culture centred on openness, inclusivity, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Manage budgets, occupancy, and staffing rotas while ensuring the home remains a safe, clean, and homely environment.
