Job summary

B&M Retail Limited, a FTSE 250 business with 780+ stores, is seeking an experienced Regional People Business Partner to support 100+ stores across the region, with East London or surrounding areas as the ideal base. You will partner with operational leaders, spend time in stores, coach managers and embed people priorities to drive engagement and performance.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, focusing on leadership development, succession planning and building

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a People or HR Business Partner role within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
• Proven passion for developing leaders, coaching managers and building high-performing teams.
• Experience in talent management, succession planning and leadership development.
• Strong commercial acumen; ability to align people priorities with operational/financial objectives.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills; ability to use people data to inform decisions.
• Proactive, hands-on approach; comfortable in stores and across levels of the business.
• Balance strategic thinking with practical delivery and execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the regional people strategy, aligning talent/workforce priorities with commercial objectives.
• Partner with senior operational leaders to drive performance and build high-performing teams.
• Spend time across the region coaching, supporting and influencing Area Managers and Store Managers to deliver people outcomes.
• Drive succession planning and leadership development with robust talent pipelines for critical roles.
• Identify high-potential talent and support development through coaching and career conversations.
• Use people data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities influencing business decisions.
• Lead colleague engagement initiatives and foster a culture of accountability, development and improvement.
• Support workforce planning, organisational change and business transformation across the region.
• Champion wellbeing, organisational effectiveness and an inclusive culture.
