Head of Health, Safety and Quality
As the Head of Health, Safety and Quality, you will lead the Health, Safety and Quality team across multiple sectors, including Transportation, Social Infrastructure, Environment & Water, Energy & Defence, and Built Environment, for both internal and external clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver strategic direction and growth plan for the Quality Health and Safety Team, ensuring alignment with the wider Specialist Advisory Services offering.
- Serve as Team Lead for 60+ cross‑sector Health and Safety and Quality resources, comprising specialists and multidisciplinary members.
- Manage day‑to‑day resourcing, minimise downtime, and support career development of team members.
- Oversee recruitment and resourcing to ensure the right skill mix to deliver on current workload and growth strategy.
- Be actively involved in project delivery.
- Contribute to sub‑sector business plans with a view on revenue and profit from Health, Safety and Quality opportunities.
- Lead business development and work‑winning activities related to Health, Safety and Quality.
- Develop an integrated Health, Safety and Quality offering for internal and external APD clients.
- Guide the team to deliver projects and programmes while adhering to internal procedures.
- Sponsor development of best‑practice delivery in Quality Health and Safety Management.
- Serve as an ambassador at external forums, promoting the team’s work and the Mott MacDonald brand. Offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Engaging and inspiring people leader with demonstrable experience establishing new teams, setting direction, culture and driving high performance.
- Sound business acumen and commercial mindset, with a track record of maximising opportunities in market.
- Effective collaborator and advisor capable of positioning and selling the wider Advisory offering to clients, working closely with APD Sector Portfolios and Specialist Advisory teams.
- Strong client‑facing skills, building and managing relationships, and maximising business development opportunities at all client levels.
- Accountable for driving successful outcomes for clients while ensuring profitability for Mott MacDonald.
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi‑layered matrix consultancy, infrastructure or construction environment through collaboration, influencing, collective decision‑making and common agendas.
- Excellent communicator, able to engage and influence at all internal and external levels within Mott MacDonald and client organisations.
- Degree qualified and Chartered Professional status held with an accredited body.
