Job summary

National Milk Records (NMR) is seeking an Area Business Manager to build and maintain relationships across Devon and North Cornwall. This field-based role spends substantial time with dairy farmers, guiding them through data-driven services from milk recording to genomics.

You will retain and grow existing customers, onboard new farms, and represent NMR in the local dairy community while collaborating with Feedlync and KW Feeds to deliver coordinated solutions.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated sales or commercial account management experience in agriculture/dairy.
• Solid knowledge of the dairy industry with credibility to build trust quickly with farmers.
• Consultative selling style with focus on customer needs and long-term relationships.
• Commercial focus and persistence, measured by value and retained business.
• Self-driven, home-based/territory-led role with diary management.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills for face-to-face engagement.
• Strong CRM discipline and follow-up management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of existing farm customers with on-farm visits to review retention and value.
• Prospect non-customers to build a robust pipeline and grow territory business.
• Promote the full service portfolio including milk recording, disease testing, and genomic services.
• Help farms use their data as a practical tool to improve herd performance.
• Be the main contact for queries and coordinate with service teams to maintain service standards.
• Support onboarding of new farms and ensure smooth transitions to NMR services.
• Be active in the local farming community through events, farm walks, and industry shows.
• Collaborate with partners to deliver joined-up customer solutions.
• Maintain accurate CRM records of interactions, opportunities and follow-ups.
