Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a bank chef to run the daily kitchen across several elderly care homes. You will lead a team to prepare nutritionally balanced meals, plan menus, and manage ordering within budget while travelling between sites.

You will need at least five years' culinary experience and qualifications such as NVQ3 in Food Production and City & Guilds catering. DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent required.
• City & Guilds 706-1 and 706-2 catering qualifications required.
• Training in IDDSI or textured modified diets required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and guide the culinary team to provide nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals within budget.
• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for Home Manager approval, accounting for special dietary needs and keeping records.
• Place food orders with approved suppliers within authority levels and budget, maintaining stock levels.
• Supervise and direct kitchen staff and the Host team.
• Instruct unqualified staff in simple food preparation.
• Apply the Avery Food Safety Management system and safe food handling standards.
• Travel between homes across the region.
