Job summary

Leeds Women's Aid (LWA) is seeking a compassionate Refuge Night Worker for a fixed-term maternity cover. The role is part-time (30 hours per week) with three night shifts (Mon Tue Wed) from 22:00 to 08:30, based in Leeds. Salary starts at £21,840 per year, with a night premium of £0.50 per hour.

Closing date: 9 November 2026. The night team handles the first contact for victims accessing LDVS and provides 24-hour helpline support and guidance to residents in refuge accommodation.

Qualifications

• Experience of telephone-based or customer service advice or support work.

Salary £21,840 (£25,480 FTE), plus 50p per hour night premium

We are looking for a compassionate and supportive Refuge Night worker to join our team. The Out-of-hours Team are the first point of contact for, and access to LDVS for any person experiencing domestic violence and abuse. We work with victim-survivors providing a 24-hour helpline service and specialist guidance to our residents residing at our refuge accommodation.

You will need:

A good understanding of the impact of domestic violence and abuse on victim survivors, children and their families.
Experience of telephone based and/or customer service advice or support work.
The ability to work under pressure in stressful or difficult situations.
Great listening skills
Able to work within an operational multi-agency environment
Able to work alone
