Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Colchester invites an experienced VC/Refractive Optometrist to join on a part-time basis, 9.5 hours/week (1 day on Fridays) with potential to take extra shifts at nearby hospitals and clinics.

The role includes pre/post-operative assessments, cataract-related examinations, and patient guidance within a multidisciplinary team, with a rich benefits package and funded development.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as an optometrist.
• Extensive experience in refractive/high street or hospital settings.
• Experience with patient administration and electronic medical records.
• Familiarity with conversion targets and KPIs in Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre- and post-operative consultations.
• Perform examinations related to cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery.
• Provide health advice and patient support.
• Give first-line clinical guidance and refer when needed.
• Ensure safety and awareness of CQC policies and updates.

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced VC/Refractive Optometrist to join our team in Colchester, supporting the delivery and growth of our private patient pathways. The Role

As an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

Requirements

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
