Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our Kent Clinic team. The role involves pre- and post-operative consultations, choosing suitable patients for treatment and working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of patient care.

You will conduct examinations related to refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures, run post-surgery follow-ups, and provide health advice to patients.

Qualifications

  • Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
  • Extensive experience as an optometrist in refractive, high street or hospital settings.
  • Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.
  • Experience working to conversion targets and KPIs within Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
  • Run post-surgery clinics and document findings in EMR systems.
  • Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
  • Offer first-line clinical guidance and refer to medical practitioners when needed.
  • Ensure awareness of equipment handling within the clinical competency framework.
  • Attend mandatory update courses and stay aligned with CQC policies.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
  • Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
  • Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
  • Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
  • Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
  • Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses
What You’ll Need
  • Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
  • Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
  • Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
  • Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
