Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our team in Leicester on a zero-hour contract with flexible shifts.

You will perform pre- and post-operative consultations, assess patient suitability for refractive procedures, and contribute to a high-quality patient experience.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience as an optometrist in refractive, high street or hospital environments.
• Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery with patients and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital and follow appropriate referrals.
• Ensure awareness of safety, equipment handling and CQC policies; attend mandatory updates.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
