Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Uttoxeter is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our multidisciplinary team. You will conduct pre- and post-operative consultations, assess patient suitability, and support refractive, cataract and retina procedures.

As a zero-hour contract role with flexible shifts, you’ll work within our clinic’s established pathways, using electronic medical records, and contributing to high-quality patient care while meeting KPI targets.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a qualified optometrist.
• Experience in refractive, high street or hospital settings.
• Experience using patient administration and EMR systems.
• Experience working to conversion targets and KPIs within Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery and document findings in EMR systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first-line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Ensure awareness of equipment handling within the clinical framework and safety.
• Attend mandatory updates and comply with CQC policies.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
