Job summary

Optegra Eye Health Care in Guildford is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our multidisciplinary team. You will perform pre and post-operative consultations and assess patient suitability for treatments.

Responsibilities include examinations for refractive surgery, cataract and retina procedures, running clinics post-surgery, providing health advice, and guiding referrals. We offer flexible shifts under a zero-hour contract, funded training, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience in refractive/high-street/hospital optometry.
• Experience with patient administration and EMR systems.
• Familiarity with conversion targets and KPIs in Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics post-surgery and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and support to hospital patients.
• Provide first line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner if needed.
• Ensure awareness of equipment safety within the clinical framework.
• Keep up with CQC policies and complete mandatory update courses.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
