Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Uttoxeter is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our multi-disciplinary team. This zero-hour contract offers flexible shifts and a pay rate of up to £50 per hour, depending on experience.

You will conduct pre- and post-operative consultations, carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina, and support patients with health advice and referrals as needed. Training and development programs are fully funded.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience in refractive, high street or hospital settings.
• Experience using patient administration and electronic medical record systems.
• Experience working to conversion targets and KPIs in Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre- and post-operative consultations for treatment suitability.
• Perform examinations for refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina.
• Run post-surgery clinics and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and referrals as needed.
• Ensure compliance with clinical competency and update courses.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment.

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
