Job summary

Optegra Eye Health Care is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our dedicated team at Leicester clinic. This zero-hour role offers flexible shifts and a pay rate up to £50 per hour based on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package and funded training and development programs.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, performing pre- and post-operative consultations, and contributing to patient selection for treatments.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in refractive/high-street or hospital settings.
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice and refer to medical practitioners when needed.
• Ensure awareness of equipment safety within the clinical competency framework.
• Keep up to date with CQC policies and mandatory training.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
