Job summary

Whitbarrow Village is seeking a friendly receptionist to welcome guests, answer phones and emails, and help guests throughout their stay at our lakeside lodge. You’ll be the face of the resort, keeping guests informed and handling issues as they arise.

This role offers straight shifts between 8am and 8pm, five days over seven with a fair weekend rota. Close to Penrith, on the edge of the Lake District, you’ll enjoy on-site parking and a supportive, family‑run environment with progression

Qualifications

• Friendly, approachable and calm under pressure.
• Comfortable talking to guests and staff.
• Reception or hospitality experience helps but isn’t required.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests on arrival and assist them during their stay.
• Handle incoming calls and emails for the front desk.
• Resolve guest issues and coordinate with other teams as needed.
• Maintain a smooth and welcoming reception area.

Receptionist, Whitbarrow Village

£13.25 an hour | Full time, 40 hours a week | Permanent | Near Penrith, on the edge of the Lake District

The job

You're the face of Whitbarrow Village, a lodge resort with pools, spa facilities and on-site dining. You'll welcome guests on arrival, look after them through their stay, handle the phones and emails, and sort problems out when they come up. Busy on changeover days, steady in between, never dull.

Straight shifts only, no splits. All shifts fall between 8am and 8pm (e.g. 8am till 4:30pm and 11:30am till 8pm), five days over seven, with weekends on a fair rota. You'll always know your shifts well in advance (rotas are normally posted 2weeks in advance)

Friendly, organised and calm when it's busy. Comfortable talking to anyone. Reception or hospitality experience helps but isn't needed, plenty of our best people came from shops, pubs, care work and school runs.
