Job summary

Metro Rod Norwich is seeking a Reactive Drainage Engineer to join our full‑time, permanent team. You’ll carry out CCTV surveys, patch lining and a range of reactive drainage tasks for commercial and domestic clients, ensuring clean, safe and compliant work across sites.

The role involves on‑call rotation, overtime and benefits; a valid UK driving licence is required, and experience with HPWJ, CSCS and CCTV surveys is preferred. Salary £30,000–£50,000 DOE, with on‑call allowances.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial & domestic drainage essential.
• Experience in drain cleaning, drain repairs, patch lining.
• Drainage tickets including HPWJ, Confined spaces and CSCS.
• CCTV surveys and lining experience.
• Full UK driving licence – required; insurable age 25+.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out cleaning, clearance, repair and maintenance of drains.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment with safety compliance.
• Carry out surveys and recording job details in systems.
• Provide high level customer service and technical expertise.
• Communicate with clients and support centre for service quality.
• Be available for on-call rota 24/7/365.

What’s involved?

We are looking for someone who can do CCTV and coding, as well as patching & lining on top of the regular reactive duties:

• Carrying out a range of services associated with the cleaning, clearance, repair, and maintenance of our customers’ drains
• Operation of High-Pressure Water Jetting Equipment in line with rigorous safety standards
• Carrying out surveys
• Providing an exceptional standard of customer service and technical expertise
• Accurately recording work/job details via a range of bespoke internal/client systems and apps
• Communicate effectively with high profile commercial and domestic clients and Metro Rod Support Centre colleagues to ensure excellent customer service is always provided
• Being part of an on-call rota to help service our clients 24/7 / 365 days a year.

What do we look for?

Suitable candidates will be able to display a great working attitude together with skills pertaining to the clearance, cleaning and repair of both internal small bore and external drainage systems.

• Experience in commercial & domestic Drainage is essential
• Experience in drain cleaning, drain repairs, patch lining
• Drainage tickets including HPWJ, Confined spaces and CSCS
• Have experience with CCTV Surveys and Lining
• Will have a positive, flexible, can-do attitude
• Be willing to work occasional / unsociable hours
• Hold a full UK driving licence – must be over 25 for insurance purposes
