Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited is seeking an Engineering Delivery Manager to lead engineering across the Light Rail portfolio in the UK. The role demands strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, and delivery oversight across multiple, high-impact projects.

The candidate will collaborate with European and UK teams, manage governance, and drive quality across software and hardware domains, with a hybrid work pattern from the Cheadle area and regular customer-site travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in systems engineering management within rail or infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle.
• Experience leading a portfolio of projects and scaling delivery.
• Familiarity with whole systems engineering lifecycles in large, complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee engineering projects within the Light Rail portfolio from initiation to completion.
• Coordinate bid engineering scope and development activities.
• Define engineering approach across the portfolio for consistency and efficiency.
• Ensure high-quality standards across software and hardware development.
• Collaborate with international teams and customers for governance and delivery.
• Grow and mentor the engineering team within the Light Rail Portfolio.
• Identify risks and mitigation strategies for project success.
• Support portfolio meetings and provide technical input for schedules.
• Manage Contract Deliverables and serve as main customer contact for engineering concerns.
• Maintain PBS, WBS, and OBS documentation.
• Provide technical support to contractors and lead technical issue resolution sessions.
• Coordinate gate reviews (PDR/CDR) throughout lifecycle.
• Support program reporting and technical meetings.
