Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited in Glasgow, UK, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major project or its components. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects meet time, cost, and quality targets while maintaining strong governance and reporting throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires documented project-management ability, stakeholder engagement, and experience in planning, budgeting, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Strong professional project-management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Effective team leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills with customers, partners and suppliers.
• Ability to present concise, relevant project-performance information to senior leaders and customers.
• Experience in planning/scheduling, resource management, risk and opportunity management, change control and governance.
• Commercial and financial acumen including budgeting and estimating.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for project delivery performance against time, cost and quality objectives.
• Provide direction, leadership and motivation to the project team.
• Ensure delivery follows Hitachi Rail’s governance and control processes.
• Manage project plans, schedules, resources, risks, opportunities and performance reporting.
• Manage changes including variations and claims and record approved baselines.
• Support achievement of programme KPIs including revenue, cash and EBIT.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide clear, concise project-performance information to senior managers and customer reps.
• Investigate cost variances and support corrective action.
• Coach and develop less-experienced Project Managers.
• Collaborate with PMO and other functions to drive successful outcomes.
