Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to lead the Light Rail portfolio, including Manchester Metro-Link upgrades and Sheffield Tram technology initiatives.

The role requires strong technical leadership, governance, and delivery oversight across multiple projects with both on-site and remote collaboration across international teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in systems engineering management within rail or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Light Rail context is a bonus but not required.
• Experience growing and scaling a portfolio of projects to meet business needs.
• Knowledge of whole systems engineering lifecycles for large complex systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee engineering projects within the portfolio from initiation to completion.
• Ensure delivery on time, within scope and budget, following defined processes.
• Develop and own the engineering approach across Light Rail projects in the UK.
• Ensure high-quality standards in software and hardware development.
• Be visible and influential with international teams and customers.
• Support the development and growth of the engineering team within the portfolio.
• Identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate solution-level engineering gate reviews (PDR, CDR) throughout lifecycle.
