Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Consultant in Safety Risk and Reliability to lead safety assurance on rail projects. You will drive hazard analyses, safety case development and risk management across rail portfolios, coordinating workshops with clients and specialists.

You will work with Independent Safety Assessors and support evolving technologies and strategic challenges such as decarbonisation, digitalisation and climate resilience in a rail context.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Strong experience leading safety and risk assessment programmes in rail.
• Solid understanding of system safety engineering and safety case development.
• Experience working with Independent Safety Assessors / AsBo.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of defined safety assurance tasks and small projects within time, cost and quality constraints.
• Deliver system safety activities including hazard identification, analysis and risk assessment (HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA).
• Chair and facilitate safety workshops with clients, partners and technical specialists.
• Coordinate and implement technical safety and risk engineering activities to reduce risk in line with industry standards.
• Support adoption of new technologies and respond to strategic challenges (decarbonisation, digitalisation, climate resilience).
• Collaborate with ISA/AsBo and prepare safety evidence and responses.
