Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Consultant in Safety Risk and Reliability to lead safety assurance activities for rail projects. You will manage hazards analysis, safety cases and cross-disciplinary teams, coordinating with ISA/AsBo bodies and clients across rail infrastructure, signalling, rolling stock and operations.

The role emphasizes leading defined workstreams, delivering high-quality safety deliverables and supporting adoption of new technologies while adhering to UK/EU standards and industry

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status with membership of a professional institution.
• Strong track record leading safety and risk assessment programmes (qualitative and quantitative).
• Experience in system safety engineering within the rail sector on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of defined safety assurance tasks, work packages or small projects to time, cost and quality.
• Deliver system safety activities including hazard identification and risk assessment (HAZID/HAZOP/FTA).
• Chair and facilitate safety workshops with clients, partners and technical specialists.
• Coordinate and implement safety and risk engineering activities, including safety cases and justifications.
• Support clients adopting new technologies and evolving rail concepts (decarbonisation, digitalisation, resilience).
• Collaborate with Independent Safety Assessors/AsBo to prepare safety evidence.
