Arup is seeking a Chartered Engineer to lead rail safety risk and system assurance across complex socio-technical rail projects. You will steer safety cases, risk analyses and assurance activities, engaging with ISA/AsBo and coordinating with clients to achieve dependable, compliant outcomes.

You will mentor teams, promote best practice, and contribute to capability growth across Arup’s rail safety capability while delivering value to clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of a recognised institution (IET, IMechE, SARS) is essential.
• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in engineering, maths or science.
• Significant experience leading system safety and risk programmes in rail.
• Experience delivering safety cases/justifications and lifecycle risk management.
• Strong knowledge of UK/European rail safety frameworks (ROGS, CSM-RA, TSIs).

Responsabilités

• Lead rail safety assurance and risk work on projects or major work packages.
• Own safety management activities across lifecycle stages.
• Apply safety analysis techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA) and risk modelling.
• Resolve complex technical issues with robust, proportionate solutions.
• Engage with Independent Safety Assessors/Assessment Bodies (ISA/AsBo).
