Amey Consulting in the UK is seeking a permanent OLE Engineer to join our Rail design team. You will lead on schemes, mentor junior designers and deliver designs, calculations, drawings and documentation that meet quality, cost and programme targets.

The role offers hybrid working patterns with offices across Birmingham, Derby, York, Bristol, Manchester and Cardiff, and exposure to high‑profile rail projects across the UK.

Qualifications

• Developed experience and expertise within the Civil engineering discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline.
• Ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound Rail engineering solutions, complying with relevant standards.
• Experience in health, safety and welfare regulations (e.g., CDM).
• Progress toward Incorporated or Chartered status or equivalent professional licence.

Responsabilités

• Lead a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions and supervising juniors.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for scheme deliverables.
• Oversee junior staff and manage actions of team members.
• Manage budgets and project costs, ensuring commercial success within portfolio.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives; attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Contribute to bids and the bid/win process.
• Work on site as required, including out-of-hours work.
• People management responsibilities where needed.
