Job summary

Alstom in Glasgow is hiring a Maintenance Assistant to support the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance of rolling stock and depot facilities. Working as part of the depot team, you will assist with vehicle maintenance, repairs and operational support while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

This permanent role offers three rotating shifts, a base salary of £41,000 plus shift allowance, and a clear path to upskilling toward a technician role at Haymarket Depot next year.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Rolling Stock Engineering environment.
• Experience carrying out rolling stock maintenance activities.
• Competent in understanding safety critical work.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with SES or similar production systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance, inspection, and repair of rolling stock in line with company standards and procedures.
• Assist Technicians with planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair activities.
• Maintain depot equipment, facilities, and work areas to a high standard.
• Operate workshop plant and equipment where trained and authorised.
• Support daily depot operations and ongoing safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide clear handovers between shifts.
