Job summary

Alstom is seeking technicians for routine maintenance, fault finding, and safe operation of Aventra Units at Ilford Depot, with occasional work at Willesden TMD. You will ensure accurate documentation, identify outstanding work, and support continuous improvement under the Shift Production Manager.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is required.
• Hands-on maintenance experience on rolling stock preferred.
• Ability to read maintenance instructions and follow procedures.
• Proven fault-finding skills on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Strong documentation to ensure shift validation and traceability.
• Safety-critical competencies and adherence to H&S policies.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and fault finding on Aventra Units.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation before Shift Production Manager validation.
• Identify outstanding work and coordinate with the Shift Production Manager.
• Operate powered plant, lifting and handling equipment.
• Report process or tooling issues to management for immediate action.
• Coach staff on safe working practices and quality standards.

Job description

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You'll report to your team leader and work alongside a team of dedicated technicians. You will be working on our LOTrain project based at Ilford Depot, you will also be required to work on our site at Willesden TMD at times. You'll be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repair and fault finding on Aventra Units. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business and have responsibility of vehicle examinations in line with vehicle maintenance instruction, and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of oneself and others under your control and much more. We'll look to you for:

• Undertake technical maintenance to the required standards, and in accordance with all maintenance instructions.
• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all maintenance documentation prior to Shift Production Manager (SPM) validation and authorisation.
• Responsible to the Shift Production Manager for the accurate identification of outstanding work at the end of the shift.
• Operation of powered plant, lifting and mechanical handling equipment.
• Ensuring all problems with processes, tooling and documentation are identified within the team is reported to the Shift Production Manager / Facility Management Team
• Highlighting potential Health and Safety concerns
• Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment
• Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standards at all times.
• Supporting the SPM regarding delivery of Quality, Waste Reduction, Delivery and EHS targets
• Produce comprehensive reports on specific fault finding investigations
• Identify potential improvements and feedback to Engineering
• Constantly searching for ways to improve processes
• Responsible for the coaching of staff in good working practices and quality standards. Supporting the Shift Production Manager in the identification of training needs
