Job summary

Involve Recruitment is seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing rail and civil engineering commercial team in Wales. You will support the project lifecycle from procurement through final accounts and gain hands-on experience across rail infrastructure, stations, bridges, and highways.

Qualifications

• Some experience within Quantity Surveying or commercial management.
• Interest or experience in rail, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Understanding of NEC contracts.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage priorities and work as part of a team.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• A relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of rail and civil engineering projects.
• Assist with valuations, applications for payment and cost reporting.
• Help prepare and maintain CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports.
• Assist with subcontract procurement and payments.
• Support the management of subcontractor accounts and contractual compliance.
• Assist with identifying and managing change, compensation events, and early warnings.
• Gain practical experience working with NEC and Network Rail forms of contract.
• Monitor project costs, progress, and commercial performance.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and the wider commercial team.
• Assist with final accounts and project close-out.
• Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Contribute to improving commercial processes and best practice.
