Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals seeks an Appointments Clerk - Radiology Booking Services (Band 3) based at Royal Preston. You will manage patient reception, accurately book radiology appointments, and process diagnostic requests in line with Trust guidelines.

The role offers 37.5 hours full-time or 26.5 hours part-time across 5 days, with occasional late shifts. Experience in busy appointment environments and patient confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working well as part of a team.
• Experience in a pressured environment and handling daily unpredictable issues.
• Aware of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Previous experience of working on reception.
• Previous experience in a busy appointments environment.
• Knowledge of national radiology standards and targets.

Responsibilities

• Cover all appointment modalities and reception areas as necessary and keep up to date with changes.
• Book patient scans using appointment protocols and send letters with instructions.
• Maximise appointment slot utilisation and communicate changes to staff.
• Provide guidance to patients about examinations and preparation.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle issues in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with clinicians and managers to deliver diagnostic pathways.
• Rotate through imaging areas as required to support the service.
