Job summary

Origen Carbon is building zero-emission lime and nurturing an early-stage R&D function. We are seeking an experienced Research & Development Manager to lead applied R&D, set priorities, and shape a small, capable team that delivers real, scalable outcomes.

You will report to the VP Technology and work with the commercial team to connect research to business needs. You will own the day-to-day R&D roadmap, manage people directly, and plan budget and resources.

Qualifications

• Experience leading applied R&D that delivered built or scaled outcomes.
• Experience managing people directly.
• Ability to connect day-to-day research to business needs.
• Background in bulk materials or decarbonisation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery of the R&D and innovation roadmap.
• Turn technology direction into concrete workstreams and milestones.
• Lead applied R&D from concept to pilot-scale validation.
• Manage and develop the team directly, including specialists.
• Plan R&D budget and resourcing with VP Technology and Finance.
• Support CFD and modelling for new product development.
• Feed IP considerations into the IP pipeline.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to align research with business needs.
• Build relationships with universities and research funders.
