Job summary

Origen Carbon seeks an experienced R&D Manager to lead a small, skilled team in Bristol. You will own the R&D roadmap, translate strategy into concrete workstreams and milestones, and steer applied research from concept to pilot-scale validation.

You’ll manage people, plan budgets with the VP Technology and Finance, and connect research priorities to business needs while building partnerships with universities and grant funders.

Qualifications

• You've managed people directly.
• You've led applied R&D somewhere that things actually got built, tested or scaled.
• You're commercially minded and can connect day-to-day research to what the business needs.
• You're comfortable executing someone else's technical direction today, with the ambition to shape more of it over time.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery of the R&D and innovation roadmap
• Turn our technology direction into concrete workstreams, experiments and milestones
• Lead applied R&D from early concept through to pilot-scale validation
• Manage and develop the team directly, including people more scientifically specialised than you
• Plan R&D budget and resourcing alongside our VP Technology and Finance
• Support CFD and virtual approaches to new product development at Origen
• Feed inventions and freedom-to-operate considerations into our IP pipeline
• Work with our commercial team to connect research priorities to what the business actually needs
• Build relationships with universities, research partners and grant funders
