Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a dynamic Quantity Surveyor to join the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project, based at the Redcar site in Cleveland, UK. You will manage project costs, budgets and reporting to ensure value for money and high governance across major infrastructure work.

We offer flexible working with a typical pattern of 3 days on site and 2 days remote, along with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to contribute to the UK’s decarbonisation and energy transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Chartered membership or working towards is preferred.
• Experience with project cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Strong contract administration and change management knowledge.
• Experience collaborating with clients, suppliers and project teams.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and reporting.
• Review tender information and prepare activity/resource schedules.
• Negotiate subcontract packages, variations and compensation events.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and commercial outcomes.
• Support preparation of claims, delay and disruption submissions.
• Build relationships with customers, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
• Assist with procurement strategies and programme development.
• Mentor junior members of the commercial team.
• Promote continuous improvement, LEAN principles and digital ways of working.
