Senior QS – Net Zero Teesside Project Lead

Job summary

Balfour Beatty is delivering the Net Zero Teesside project from our Redcar site. We seek a Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver commercial control, support project directors and guide the commercial team.

You will oversee cost reporting, forecasting, subcontract management and contract variations to maintain targets. A CSCS card and professional body affiliation are desirable. This role focuses on safety, value delivery and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of construction and contract law and various Forms of Contract.
• Detailed understanding of tendering and procurement processes.
• Significant knowledge of construction techniques on major projects.
• Ability to apply commercial management to construction projects.
• Experience in preparing and administering subcontracts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure duties align with HSE procedures and work instructions.
• Mentor junior staff and provide guidance to project teams.
• Develop commercial strategy to achieve project margins.
• Maintain contract cost reporting and track budget/tender allowances.
• Forecast project cost to completion and final value.
• Interface effectively between customers, subcontractors and departments.
• Monitor cash flow, valuation plans and timely payments.
• Manage subcontract tender processes and sub-contractor selections.
• Ensure proper variation ordering and claim support.
