Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for the Net Zero Teesside project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. You will manage project costs, forecasts and reporting while ensuring value for money and governance across the commercial function.

We seek an experienced QS with a track record on major construction or infrastructure projects, strong negotiation and stakeholder skills, and membership or progression towards RICS/ICES/CIOB.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Experience managing project costs, forecasts and commercial reporting.
• Strong understanding of contract administration and change management.
• Experience working closely with clients, supply chain partners and project teams.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB, or working towards professional qualification.
• Experience on major construction or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and reporting for your area of responsibility.
• Reviewing tender information and preparing activity and resource schedules.
• Negotiating subcontract packages, variations and compensation events.
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and commercial outcomes.
• Supporting the preparation of claims, delay and disruption submissions where required.
• Building strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
• Assisting with procurement strategies and programme development.
• Supporting, mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team.
• Promoting continuous improvement, LEAN principles and digital ways of working.
