A well-established Main Contractor based in Barnet, Hertfordshire, have a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join their family-run business on a permanent basis, working on a range of projects up to £5m in value.

The company have been operating for close to 100 years’ and have always been a family-run business. They carry out a range of new build and refurbishment projects across the Education, Healthcare, Residential and Social Housing sectors, as well as other public buildings.

They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to come on board and strengthen their commercial team; somebody that has extensive experience working for Main Contractors on new build and refurbishment schemes across a range of sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for projects
  • Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly
  • Procure or agree the services of contractors and/or subcontractors who work on the construction of the project
  • Measure and value the work done on site
  • Value subcontractors work
  • Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as Site Managers, Project Managers and Site Engineers
  • Write extension of time letters

Experience:

  • Track record working for a reputable Main Contractor
  • Experience working on new build and refurbishment projects across the Education, Healthcare, Residential / Social Housing sectors
  • Excellent all round commercial skills and awareness
  • Able to work on own initiative / autonomously on projects
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Able to commute to Barnet, Herts on a daily basis
