Job summary

Stonewater is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen cost management across our social housing portfolio. You will challenge costs, analyse data and drive value for money through contract compliance and robust financial controls.

You will work with operations, procurement and external partners on high-volume repairs, new works and electrical/gas projects, delivering measurable savings and clear commercial guidance.

Qualifications

• Significant Quantity Surveying experience in housing or large organisations.
• Strong NHF Schedule of Rates knowledge.
• Experience reviewing contractor costs in high-volume repairs.
• Track record of savings and performance improvements.
• Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
• Excellent analytical and data-driven decision making.
• Strong Excel capability, including PivotTables.
• Excellent negotiating and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Professional qualification in construction or QS.

Responsibilities

• Review and challenge contractor costs at job and line-item level.
• Scrutinise Schedule of Rates pricing, variations and applications.
• Monitor expenditure and identify cost trends and risks.
• Lead cost benchmarking, value engineering and reviews.
• Provide commercial advice to ops and procurement.
• Assess contract variations and claims.
• Support contract negotiations and new arrangements.
• Identify and manage financial risks.
• Build relationships with contractors with commercial challenge.
• Use data to influence improvements to services.
• Look for smarter ways of working and strengthen commercial control.
