Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction client in Coventry is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join an expanding commercial team. The role focuses on commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, with opportunities to develop in a forward‑thinking offsite construction business.

We’re looking for 2-3 years’ QS or commercial experience, ideally with subcontractor or specialist contractor background.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' Quantity Surveying or commercial experience.
  • Experience working for a subcontractor or specialist contractor.
  • Education sector experience is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Procuring, negotiating and administering subcontract packages.
  • Preparing applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
  • Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risk.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and project progress.
  • Ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supporting the resolution of commercial issues and disputes.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2-3 years' commercial experience who is looking to develop their career within a forward‑thinking business at the forefront of modern methods of construction.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced commercial team, you\'ll be responsible for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, helping to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

About You

The business is keen to speak with candidates from a variety of construction backgrounds. Previous offsite or timber frame experience is beneficial but not essential.

You\'ll Ideally Have
  • 2-3 years' Quantity Surveying or commercial experience
  • Experience working for a subcontractor or specialist contractor
Education Sector Experience (preferred But Not Essential)
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive attitude and a desire to progress your career
