Skilled Careers is recruiting two Quantity Surveyors for our Kent projects. You will lead commercial delivery from tender to final account on multiple construction contracts with a Tier 1 main contractor. The role requires strong numeracy, contract knowledge (JCT/NEC), and experience with subcontract management.

You will support design and build projects, mentor junior surveyors, and work closely with pre-construction, design, and delivery teams in a busy commercial environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience within the building sector for a main contractor.
• Experience with Design & Build projects.
• Knowledge of standard forms of contract (JCT/NEC).
• Experience with subcontract procurement and package management.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects from tender through to final account.
• Produce and issue commercial/contractual notices.
• Manage subcontract work packages.
• Carry out interim assessments and manage change.
• Lead commercial risk management and reporting.
• Produce monthly reports and CVRs.
• Develop and maintain Cost Plans and forecasts.
• Track expenditure and subcontract liability schedules.
• Procure and negotiate subcontract packages.
• Monitor project financial performance.
• Collaborate with project and operations teams.
• Develop and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors.

Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Maidstone area, Kent
Contract type: Permanent
Sector: Building / main contractor

The role:

Due to major project awards across Kent the need has arisen to recruit for 2 Quantity Surveyors to join the commercial team heading up Kent's construction contracts. Quantity Surveyor will take the lead on a wide range of construction project within thismulti-disciplinary UK top 20 Tier 1 main contractor you will be working closely with the pre-construction, design, delivery and wider commercial teams.

As an experienced Quantity Surveyor you will manage the commercial delivery of projects from tender through to final account, taking responsibility for commercial control, subcontract packages, risk, reporting and contractual matters.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage all commercial aspects from tender through to final account.
• Produce and issue commercial/contractual notices.
• Manage subcontract work packages.
• Carry out interim assessments and manage subsequent change.
• Lead commercial risk management, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Produce and present detailed monthly reports and CVRs.
• Produce and maintain detailed Cost Plans.
• Track and forecast expenditure.
• Maintain detailed subcontractor liability schedules.
• Manage procurement and subcontract negotiations.
• Monitor project financial performance.
• Work closely with project and operational teams.
• Develop and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors.

About you:

This advert is aimed at an experienced commercial professional with strong construction-sector experience and successful candidates will have

• A stable CV
• Extensive experience working within the building sector of theconstruction industryfor a main contractor.
• Experience of Design & Build projects.
• Good understanding of construction processes and commercial management.
• Knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly JCT and/or NEC.
• Experience with subcontract procurement and package management.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with commercial/cost-management systems would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider project team.
• A relevant degree and/or practical experience in a commercial construction environment.
• Either hold or be working toward professional membership of RICS or CIOB, with MRICS/MCIOB or equivalent professional qualification advantageous.
