Job summary

Edge Careers is partnering with a well-established construction business to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for high-value projects across diverse sectors in the West of England.

Joining a supportive team, you will manage commercial delivery, budgets and CVR reporting, with responsibilities spanning interim payments, final accounts and risk management while collaborating closely with site and operations teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor with construction experience.
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and NEC.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent numerical and IT skills; strong problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to site.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse project budgets.
  • Procure supply chain and prepare order documentation.
  • Assess and certify Sub-Contractor interim payments.
  • Prepare Interim Valuations and Final Account submissions.
  • Manage and value Variation accounts.
  • Assist with Extension of Time claims and Loss and Expense submissions.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks.
  • Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ensure effective interaction between commercial and site teams.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction business delivering high-value projects across a broad range of sectors.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative team and will have the opportunity to work across varied construction projects, with clear opportunities for career development and professional growth.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial management and successful delivery of projects, working closely with operational and commercial teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and analysis of project budgets
  • Procurement of the supply chain and preparation of order documentation in accordance with company management systems
  • Assessment and certification of Sub-Contractor interim payments, ensuring the appropriate notices are issued
  • Preparation of Interim Valuations and Final Account submissions
  • Managing and valuing Variation accounts
  • Assisting with the preparation of Extension of Time claims and Loss and Expense submissions
  • Identification and management of commercial risks
  • Assisting with the production of robust and accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports
  • Establishing, maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships
  • Ensuring effective interaction between commercial and operational site teams

About You

We are looking for a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor with construction experience and strong commercial awareness.

You will ideally have:

  • Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and NEC
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent numerical, IT and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to travel frequently to site, as and when required
