Job summary

Lonsite Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on commercial management from procurement through to final account, within a Main Contractor environment.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years' experience with a strong understanding of traditional, design & Build, and cladding remediation projects. You will work closely with PMs, contracts managers, and site teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Prepare client valuations and applications for payment.
  • Managing variations and additional works.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, design teams and site teams.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, an established and growing Main Contractor, who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor and will have a strong commercial understanding of construction projects.

The contractor works across a varied portfolio of projects, including Traditional Contracting, Design & Build and Cladding Remediation Works.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to completion and final account.

Key responsibilities
  • Commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Managing project budgets, cost reports, forecasts and cash flow.
  • Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
  • Preparing and negotiating subcontract orders.
  • Managing subcontractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Preparing client valuations and applications for payment.
  • Managing variations and additional works.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, design teams and site teams.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor.
  • Experience across Traditional and Design & Build projects.
  • Experience within cladding remediation, façade, refurbishment or building envelope would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
  • Experience managing subcontractor packages.
  • Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification is desirable.
