Job summary

Enable Group in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a busy civil engineering and infrastructure contractor. You will manage commercial issues from procurement through to final account on a variety of utilities and civil projects, reporting into the Commercial Manager.

The role offers a supportive team, modern offices, and opportunities to develop NEC contract expertise, with exposure to large-scale schemes and long-term client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of NEC forms of contract.
  • Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities projects.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement management and subcontract package administration.
  • Contract administration and commercial reporting.
  • Cost forecasting, budgeting and change control.
  • Valuations, payments and final accounts.
  • Subcontractor management and account reconciliations.
  • Support project teams to maximise commercial performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a highly successful civil engineering and infrastructure contractor based in Hemel Hempstead.

This is a fantastic time to be joining the business. With a strong pipeline of secured work, continued growth across multiple frameworks, and significant investment being made into both people and facilities, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the addition of a driven Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and management of subcontract packages
  • Contract administration and commercial reporting
  • Cost forecasting and budget management
  • Management of change, compensation events and variations
  • Valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
  • Subcontractor management and account reconciliation
  • Supporting project teams to maximise commercial performance
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding and practical experience working under NEC forms of contract
  • Previous experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities projects
  • Water sector experience is highly desirable
  • Strong commercial acumen and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
