Job summary

BMSL Group Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its South Wales team, covering Cardiff area. You will support commercial management on diverse residential and commercial projects from pre-construction to final account, working with the Commercial Director and project teams to drive cost control.

Ideal candidates have QS experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage workload within a growing contractor. A competitive package and progression opportunities are on offer.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role (Assistant or QS level).
• Background within construction (residential and/or commercial projects).
• Strong commercial awareness and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.
• Work closely with the Commercial Director and project teams.
• Assist with cost planning, budgeting and tender documentation.
• Manage subcontract procurement and valuations.
• Support cost control, cash flow and reporting.
• Assist with interim valuations and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and internal teams.

We're working with a well-established and growing construction contractor delivering high-quality projects across South Wales and the South West. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the addition of a Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

• Supporting the commercial management of construction projects from pre‑construction through to final account
• Working closely with the Commercial Director and wider project teams
• Assisting with cost planning, budgeting and tender documentation
• Managing subcontract procurement and valuations
• Supporting cost control, cash flow and reporting
• Assisting with interim valuations and final accounts
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Liaising with clients, consultants and internal teams

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role (Assistant or QS level)
• Background within construction (residential and/or commercial projects)
• Strong commercial awareness and communication skills
• Ability to manage workload and work as part of a team
• Good understanding of standard forms of contract
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar (or working towards)
