Overview
Quality Inspector. A well-established and respected precision engineering company is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key position working alongside the Quality Manager, focused on maintaining and improving quality standards across the business. The company specialises in the manufacture of low-volume, high-precision components for industries including aerospace, oil & gas, and defence. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of components using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges and other precision tools.
- Ensure components meet tight tolerances and comply with customer specifications.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, understanding all relevant symbols and tolerances.
- Carry out first-off, in-process, final, and goods-in inspections.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure full product and process traceability.
- Quarantine and report non-conforming products and contribute to root cause investigations.
- Raise and manage concession requests and non-conformance reports.
- Support the completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Prepare and review Certificates of Conformity.
- Liaise directly with customers regarding quality issues as needed.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to support continuous improvement and drive a quality-focused culture across the business.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a precision engineering or machining environment is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of visual and dimensional inspection methods.
- Confident using a wide range of measuring equipment and tools.
- Ability to measure in both metric and imperial units.
- Experience with CMM equipment and producing inspection reports is desirable.
- Understanding of quality systems such as AS9100 or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and standard quality documentation software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 2:30pm

Location: Leighton Buzzard
Salary: £33,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
