Job summary

Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead the Public Sector Audit team, focusing on oversight of local audit processes and maintaining public accountability within government bodies.

You will work with stakeholders across local authorities and NHS bodies, applying strong regulatory judgement and audit expertise while guiding teams and maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
• Local government or public sector audit experience.
• Knowledge of LAAA 2014 and National Audit Code.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills.
• Confident stakeholder and relationship management.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
• Curiosity about public accountability and public interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to Grant Thornton's local audit work, ensuring robust, evidence-based responses.
• Manage end-to-end process for local elector objections to audited accounts with appropriate written decisions.
• Act as a key contact for whistleblowing disclosures relevant to audited bodies and investigate disclosures.
• Respond to matters raised by electors and others under auditing standards and codes, coordinating with engagement teams.
