Job summary

Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our Public Sector Audit team. You will oversee the resolution of formal processes arising from local audit work, including complaints handling and regulator interactions.

Reporting directly to the Public Sector Audit Partner lead, you will apply strong regulatory judgement, technical audit expertise and stakeholder management to local government and NHS audits.

Qualifications

• Strong written communication and analytical skills are required.
• Experience in public sector audit and working with regulators is essential.
• Knowledge of audit quality and oversight frameworks is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously is needed.
• Understanding Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 is advantageous.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management across government bodies is important.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and resolution of complaints relating to local audit work, coordinating with internal teams and regulators.
• Manage end-to-end objections under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, assessing merits and issuing decisions.
• Act as a point of contact for whistleblowing disclosures related to audited bodies; triage and investigate.
• Respond to matters raised by electors and others, liaising with engagement teams to ensure timely follow-up.
