Job summary

First Bus in Slough is hiring a PSV/HGV Mechanic to maintain and repair our bus fleet at the Slough Engineering Depot. The role offers a full-time, permanent contract with a 40-hour week and a competitive hourly rate.

NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) engineers are preferred, with PCV licence desirable and support to obtain it. Experience with buses, HGVs, and diagnostic tools is essential for success.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in engineering.
• PCV licence desirable; ability to obtain PCV licence with support.
• Experience with buses & coaches, HGV vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering operation for bus servicing, breakdowns and inspections.
• Be flexible with working hours to meet operational requirements.
• Stay up to date with bus history and recurring defects before inspections.
• Use electronic and mechanical diagnostic equipment and modern repair techniques.
• Input and extract data in computerised engineering systems.
