Job summary

First Bus Ipswich Depot is seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic with NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance to join our engineering team. The role offers a 39-hour week, rotating early shift pattern, and a £2,000 joining bonus paid across payroll and probation.

Expect technical up-skilling, career progression, and a supportive environment. You will diagnose and repair buses/PSV vehicles, service vehicles and attend breakdowns as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Flexible approach to work with the ability to multi-skill.
• UK driving licence is essential; PCV licence desirable and capability to obtain if needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and parts replacement.
• Identify faults and specify correct repair methods and parts.
• Carry out servicing and routine vehicle examinations with data capture where applicable.
• Attend on-road breakdowns and recoveries as required.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and defects.
